Who has the strongest bite?
Not sure if the study’s been done on crocs, BUT your first answer is wrong. Someone at the University of Florida made a hydraulic bite-meter and took it to the St. Augustine Alligator Farm to see what they could find out. An average, casual “get away from me and leave me the heck alone” type bite from an adult alligator is usually about 2,000 psi. This bite-meter was built to withstand 5,000 psi, but was ~broken~ by one of the larger alligators in the collection. Larger animals would probably have more bite pressure, thus the Nile or Saltwater croc at larger sizes can probably put these numbers to shame, but you’ll have to find someone with their own info on any studies done on these species.
