It’s been an interesting race, to say the least. A relatively unknown politician before his 2004 DNC keynote address, Barack Obama has surged ahead of the Democratic Party establishment and is on the verge of defeating one of the most powerful political families in the United States. He’s done it all on a wave of enthusiasm surrounding his personal charisma, and the new mantra of change over experience. It’s hard to argue that Washington hasn’t squandered the great wealth and strength of the United States in an ill-advised war that Obama (and myself) opposed at its first mentioning. Most of you are aware of my abrupt “change” from opposing the war to supporting it, and I’ve seen most of you on the road going the other way — i.e. from support to disdain.
