Sadaharu Oh hit 868 home runs in his regular season career in Japanese baseball. Many of Josh Gibson’s home runs were against semi-pro teams while barnstorming. Exact stats were never verified during Negro League play. He probably would have put up Ruthian numbers had he been permitted to play Major League Baseball, but, unfortunately, we’ll never know.
