Who has done an Alpha course?
Those who are not “impressed” with Alpha courses shouldn’t be surprised. An Alpha course is not designed to convert atheists. It is to give information to new believers about what the christian church believes and aims to follow. Therefore, it has a very open, non-defensive, non-apologetic stance on Christianity. If atheists want an apologetics course, they should look for one. New Christians are the target audience. So of course those who go to be entertained, to criticize, to research etc. will find that the course is not really for them. If an atheist was to attend, it would be like a high-school kid going to kindergarten and criticizing the motives of the 3 little pigs.
