Based on the book by Jules Verne—the third time this tale has been brought to the screen—Journey to the Center of the Earth is a science fiction movie rife with adventure. As soon as the movie starts we are given good hints of Trevor’s character by the jugs of coins and his trophies. We quickly see that he is the archetypal bachelor; his place is a mess. We can all relate to that, and quickly come to like him. We see the beginnings of a personality in Sean, although at first his character isn’t half as well shown as Trevor’s.
