Based on the book by Jules Verne—the third time this tale has been brought to the screen—Journey to the Center of the Earth is a science fiction movie rife with adventure. What happens when a young man tries tracing the last steps taken by his ill-fated brother? A fantastic journey ensues, and we are taken on an exciting, danger filled ride. Trevor Anderson, played by the ever-handsome Brendan Fraser, is the professor who takes his nephew, Sean (played by Josh Hutcherson) on a harrowing adventure. As soon as the movie starts we are given good hints of Trevor’s character by the jugs of coins and his trophies. We quickly see that he is the archetypal bachelor; his place is a mess. We can all relate to that, and quickly come to like him. We see the beginnings of a personality in Sean, although at first his character isn’t half as well shown as Trevor’s.
