Who had built the great wall of china?
Usually Chinese say it was Qinshihuangdi(The First Emperor of Qin) who built the Great Wall of China originally. The Qin Dynasty was established in 221 BC. There are many ducal states before 221 BC, which built their own walls in each state. Qinshihuangdi gave order to link them up after the conquer of other ducal states in 221 BC. The Qin Dynasty lasted for only 15 years. The later dynasties as Han Dynasty and Ming Dynasty rebuilt, repaired and reconstruced the wall frequently. At the very beginning, most of the artisans of the wall were criminals, and they were dispatched as punishment. Lots of soldiers also participated in the huge work. Thus, it is the great Chinese, not a single man, who built the Great Wall in the past 2000 years.
