Susceptibility to MH is an inherited condition. Presently it is unclear how many people in the U.S. actually have this condition, because they are otherwise healthy and do not have any symptoms as long as they are not exposed to triggering anesthesia agents. If a person is susceptible to MH each of his/her children has a 50% chance to inherit this condition.
