Who get home field if the all-star game gets rained out?
Answer Hi Steve, Thanks for writing. My understanding is that if the game is ever rained out or if it ends in a tie like it did a few years ago, World Series home field advantage would revert back to the old way: if an NL team hosts the All-Star game, the NL has home field advantage in the World Series. If an AL team hosts the All-Star game, the AL gets World Series home field advantage. For instance, in 2006 Pittsburgh hosts the All-Star game so if it’s rained out or ends in a tie the NL would have home field advangtage in the World Series. Usually, the AL and NL rotate year after year as to which league hosts the All-Star game. Next year the Giants (another NL team) is hosting. This will be the first time the NL has hosted in back-to-back years.
