Who Founded the San Fernando Mission?
The San Fernando Mission was officially founded on “The Feast of the Birth of Mary” back in the late 1700s. The mission was the 17th mission in the California Missions Chain, and was built by the local Native Americans who had converted to Christianity. At its peak, the mission housed over 2,000 Native American converts and was self-sufficient. The San Fernando Mission has suffered much damage over the years, but is currently a well-tended, active church.
