Who files the H-1B application on behalf of the U of U?
(A) All H-1B requests must be reviewed/processed through Office of General Counsel. There are federal guidelines that require the U to maintain documents related to H-1B employees for a period of “one year beyond the last date on which any H-1B nonimmigrant is employed under the labor condition application.” Moreover, the USCIS issues new forms and policies on a regular basis. In order to provide our employees the best service possible, the U has elected to centralize this process by dedicating an immigration attorney in the Office of General Counsel to oversee all H-1B applications.
