Who exactly creates viruses?
I think you would find that virus creators are not anti-social people. In fact many of them probably do it for the notoriety. That may sound dumb, but being able to actually write a working virus is (in some programming circles) a bragging right. The problem occurs when these viruses get out in the wild. Now having said all that, creating a virus with the intent of doing damage to peoples’ computer systems is a cowardly act and against the law.
In a world of competitive business ventures, there is no multi-billion dollar payouts for second or third place. Teams of programmers are used to create viruses just to give their company an edge over a serious competitor. Prospective buyers and clients can not download products and software from servers if they are jammed with useless viruses. Bottom line. If my company can move our product first and keep you from out maneuvering us, it will find a way to do it.
