Releasing it early will mean less competition. There are plenty of horror movies that come out on Halloween. As is becoming a Halloween tradition, the new Saw will be out, and Saw has become king of Halloween movie releases. It would soak up a ton of Halloween 2’s ticket sales. Also Night of the Demons, Zombieland, The Stepfather, Antichrist, House of the Devil, and more will be out in Oct. Halloween 2 will probably make a lot more money coming out early.
