Who else thinks Karen Carpenter had the most pleasantly sounding female singing voice in pop music?
Well,there are many genres of music, and just as there are many genres of music, there are many types of womens’ voices that are pleasing. I divide music up like that, and so, for example, from “Opera/Broadway-Musical” singers, I like Sarah Brightman and Denyse Graves. From “Older Christian Contemporary Music”, I like Sandy Patti and Vestal Goodman. From “Younger Contemporary Christian Music”, I like Nicole C. Mullen. And so on and so forth. But I have to say, in the category “Women of the Lower Register”, Karen Carpenter reigns as Queen of the Lower Register with Anne Murray being the Duchess. My word, their voices are soft like velvet and smoothe like finely spun silk!
