A win is a win, or so the saying goes, and may be in December this game against Northern Illinois will be just another number in the win column. Although the Wisconsin Badger football team earned a 28-20 win against the Huskies Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium, not everything went as smoothly as planned. It didn’t start that way, however. On Wisconsin’s opening play of the game quarterback Scott Tolzien hit wide receiver Isaac Anderson on an 80-yard touchdown pass and the Badgers set the early tone. Wisconsin did not score the rest of the first quarter but the Badger defense was stifling. The Huskies had to punt twice and scored just a field goal at the end of the period to make the score 7-3. Wisconsin and Anderson struck again early in the second quarter as the wide receiver took the end around and trotted into the end zone from 23-yards out. He became the first Badger since P.J. Hill in the 2007 to score both a rushing and a receiving touchdown in the same game and Anderson finished
Last week, the Wisconsin Badger football team had a lot to worry about not only on the field but off it. With several players suffering from flu-like symptoms, it was unclear who would play and who would not.Cornerback Aaron Henry was one of those Badgers who tried to play despite not feeling well but could not go the entire game. Last week Fresno State took advantage of the shorthanded backfield by passing the ball. Wisconsin will not have to worry about a vertical passing game as run-oriented Wofford comes calling Saturday but the Badgers will need all hands on deck.The Terriers run the wingbone offense built on misdirection and speed. Support from the defensive backs in stopping the run will be key to keeping Wofford from getting any ideas of an Appalachian-sized upset. Sophomore John Clay has rushed for 1070 yards in his Badger career and Saturday will get his first start wearing the Cardinal and White. Clay was expected to the starter going into the season, but lost that position
