Self-government agreements clearly indicate where and over whom Aboriginal laws will be exercised. For the most part, Aboriginal laws only apply on Aboriginal-owned or reserve land. In some instances, an Aboriginal government may be able to exercise some jurisdiction over its members off-reserve, subject to the agreement of the province or territory involved.
