Who does HMA view as its competitors?
When HMA established the niche of operating hospitals in non-urban communities there was little direct competition from hosptals or outpatient facilities. Gradually, over time, HMA’s markets became more competitive as they grew, and the Company acquired hospitals in more competiive markets. Today, HMA has direct hospital competion in approximately 70% of its markets and some form of outpatient competition in every market. By focusing on being the industry leader in quality and customer satisfaction, HMA sees opportunity to differentiate itself from the competition and increase market share.
