Who do you think are the social outcasts of society now?
My first thought were Muslims, my second would be smokers (although there is an abundance of them). Muslims because of obviously terrorist reasons, and everyone stereotypes them. Smokers because it is so socially taboo now to smoke and this has JUST changed within the past couple years, whereas throughout the United States entire history, it is been ONLY acceptable to smoke. I would not say the handicapped are outcasted because everything is now handi-accessable by law and they are looked at (generally) with more acceptance than they ever used to and are appreciated now more than ever. Black people, hispanics and most other minorities, including mixes are not social outcasts because it is now the norm to mix, and black people do everything now that white people are…Conda Leaza Rice, Obama, Will Smith, Denzel Washington, Dave Chapelle, Chis Rock) And I don’t see how overachievers and workaholics could be outcasted, because they are often rewarded very well for those things.
