Who Discovered Vanadium?
The element Vanadium was first discovered in Mexico by Andres Manuel del Rio in 1801. Unfortunately, the samples and evidence he sent to Paris for confirmation were lost in a shipwreck, the powers-that-be in Paris disputed his discovery and he withdrew his claim. Vanadium was rediscovered in Sweden by Nils Gabriel Sefstrom in 1830, and successfully isolated by English chemist Sir Henry Enfield Roscoe in 1867.
