Diana Ross was discovered by a woman named Mary Wilson. In 1959 she was introduced to Milton Jenkins the manager for a local group, by Mary Wilson. A member of the group convinced Milton Jenkins to let Diana Ross in the group, called the Primettes. The group signed a record deal with Lu Pine Records in 1960. In 1961 they signed with Motown Records and changed their name to the Supremes.
