Who did the city of North Myrtle Beach honor due to the Barefoot Resort fire?
Firefighters from across the state, along with their friends and families, gathered Saturday morning at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center for an annual memorial service honoring firefighters who died during the previous year. Two Myrtle Beach area fire departments remembered firefighters who passed away in 2008: James L. Hayes and Thomas Harvey Owens Jr., both from Myrtle Beach Fire Department, and Louie Sauceda Jr. from North Myrtle Beach Fire Department. “It’s a time of reflection and it’s a time to honor those folks that have gone before us,” said Chief John Bowers, president of the S.C. State Firefighters Association. “It’s kind of our time to pay respect to the family.” Sources: http://www.thesunnews.com/news/breaking_news/story/986611.
