Jackson, an amateur, birdied No. 15 to reach 11 under for the first time on Friday, but bogeyed the next hole, his first in two rounds. He closed out his round with an 8-foot birdie at No. 18 to get back to 11 under and tie Dave Stockton and Simon Hobday. Funk also shot 67. Tim Jackson, a 50-year-old real estate developer from Tennessee, strung together another impressive round Friday, finishing with a 5-under 67 to give him a one-shot lead over the closest full-time player, Sindelar. His second-round score would have set a tournament record for amateurs had he not broken it himself the day before when he had a course-record 66. The previous mark was 68.
