Cipher was developed from 2000 to 2003 by Synaptic Soup Ltd. The company built Cipher to create their own games with and also licensed the technology to other developers. Cipher was purchased from Synaptic Soup when it closed, so that it could be made available to a much broader range of developers. With its new low price and more open approach, cipherengine.com hopes that Cipher will grow a community of developers that will help it go from strength to strength.
