Who deserves their high salarys more movie stars or athletes?
The only reason actors are paid so much is because it costs so much to make a movie in the first place. The producers have millions of dollars at risk, so they pay well-known actors lots of money and treat them very well, just so the actor won’t quit or anything. The producers can only rely on ticket sales to make a profit, so they rely on the actor to bring in an audience. Athletes are almost the same. Sports is a huge deal in the US, and if a certain player comes along who can play the sport very well, then he/she is paid millions of dollars and also treated very well. This is so the athlete will stick around and the owners can make money off the fans. So to answer your question, it’s hard to say who exactly “deserves” the millions of dollars. It’s understandable why they’re paid so much, though. Unfortunately, all the money on their paychecks could really be put to better use to maintain society.
