Who decides who gets the money collected?
A volunteer leadership committee at United Jewish Communities (UJC) vets all of the requests for funds from the Disaster Relief fund. Many members of the committee have been through previous disasters (including the San Francisco earthquake, Florida hurricane relief, the Tsunami in Southeast Asia and 9/11) and are experienced at what needs to be done.
