Who decides which weeds are “noxious?
The Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board is advisory to the Washington State Department of Agriculture regarding noxious weed control in the state. The mission of the Board is to serve as responsible stewards of Washington by protecting and preserving the land and resources from the degrading impact of weeds. Made up of five elected and seven appointed members, the State Board creates the state noxious weed list, upon which our county list is then drawn. The Board shares responsibility for the implementation of our state’s noxious weed law with the Department of Agriculture and the 48 active county weed boards.
