Who decides when a postponement can be granted?
When and whether to postpone scheduled games causes many questions in leagues. Basically, there are two types of postponements. Those requested at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled bowling time, and emergency postponements for which no prior notice is required. When 48 hours notice is given, Rule 111a provides the board or a postponement committee can decide whether the team making the request has sufficient cause to be granted a postponement. The reason for requesting a postponement does not have to be an emergency. Each request should be given careful consideration. To facilitate matters, we recommend the president appoint a three-member committee, including the secretary, since they have the records.
