Who decides what traffic signals are installed?
All traffic signs, parking restrictions, pavement markings, traffic calming devices (including speed humps) and other traffic controls are approved by the Department of Public Works. The City is required by state law to follow the national Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Roads, which sets standards such as when a four way stop or a signal can be installed.
