Who decided that “Clown Fish” was a good name, anyway?

I’m not sure who decided on the common name of Clown Fish. I’m sure it is because of the bright and vibrant colors. Both clowns and clown fish have a white hue that becomes even brighter when exposed to bright or florescent light. You could always call the fish by its proper name in the subfamily of “amphiprioninae” I prefer Clown Fish.
