Who creates AST posts?
It is most common for schools to create AST posts, and this can be done through internal or external recruitment. It is also open to local authorities (LAs), federations and other collaborative groups of schools to create posts. These can be based in one school or deployed across more than one. In all cases the normal balance of 80 per cent classroom duties and 20 per cent outreach will need to be maintained.
