Who created the X Men character Wolverine?
Wolverine was created by Len Wein as a character in Incredible Hulk 180. John Romita Sr helped design his look, and Herb Trimpe drew his first appearance. However, Wein’s original Wolverine was drastically different than the character we know today (for example, he had Wolverine’s claws attached to his gloves). Wein eventually brought Wolverine to the X-Men in Giant Size X-Men #1, which introduced a new team, and handed (Uncanny) X-Men off Chris Claremont. It wasn’t until Chris Claremont got a hold of Wolverine that he really developed into the character everyone knows today. Uncanny X-Men artists John Byrne and the late Dave Cockrum also deserve a lot of credit in developing Wolverine as well. (Stan Lee had absolutely nothing to do with developing Wolverine, other than being the president of Marvel). So, technically, Wein created Wolverine, but the credit really should go to Claremont. .
