Who created PermeonTM Simulated Desert Varnish?
In 1974, Dr. Carleton Moore of Arizona State University (ASU) took on the challenge of developing an artificial “desert varnish” to combat mountain scarring. The first artificial desert varnish was a two-step process. First, an alkaline substance was applied followed by a blend of ferromanganese salt. Results were encouraging and led to the natural color restoration of millions of square feet of scarred landscape. However, the two-step process was laborious, expensive and potentially dangerous due to the caustic nature of the first step. In 1991, a new environmentally safe, single step process was developed by Dr. Moore and patented by ASU. Dubbed PermeonTM Simulated Desert Varnish, this user-friendly process made it possible for the layman to apply artificial desert varnish without endangering workers or wildlife. Permeon™ is the most widely accepted, technically advanced and environmentally safe product manufactured for permanent color mitigation. Q: How long does a PermeonTM Simulat
