Who could go to Moorend CE (C) primary centre for learning?
Priority for admission would be given to pupils who live in the current Priority Admission Area for Moorend CE (C) First & Nursery School and St. Luke’s CE (VC) First School. There may need to be a review of existing Priority Admission Area boundaries. Why are we proposing to close St. Luke’s CE (VC) First School? St. Luke’s CE(VC) First School is rated by Ofsted as ‘good with some outstanding features’. We have evaluated the potential for all existing schools (and possible new sites) to be developed as primary centres for learning with places for 210 or 420 pupils aged 5 to 11. The current St Luke’s buildings have a capacity of 90 places and the site has very limited scope for expansion with the quality facilities for a 210 place 5 to 11 school. We are proposing the best possible arrangement of schools to meet the needs of the communities in Cleckheaton. In full consultation with the Diocese of Wakefield, we are proposing to increase the total number of Church of England (Controlled)
