Who challenged the geocentric theory in 1514?
For a while, the Catholic Church believed that the geocentric theory was fact. When Galileo confirmed Conpernicus’ discoveries on the heliocentric theory, Galileo was excommunicated by the Catholic Chuch, put on trial, and was forced to recant. It was not until the late 20th-century that the Catholic church realized they were false, and that Galileo was correct.
