Sweetest Day is traditionally a Midwest holiday that is celebrated on the third Saturday of October. Ahem, making it 10/18/08- THIS SATURDAY! While this holiday is mostly celebrated by Midwest couples, it is a romantic holiday similar to Valentine’s Day that can be celebrated by couples all over. How should you celebrate & what should you give? Since the origin of Sweetest Day dates back to the early 1800’s when Cleveland candy makers gave out candy to newspaper boys, mail carriers, orphans, the elderly, and poor children, you should stick with the “sweet” theme. Sweetest Day is a day to give a “sweet” token to your sweetheart to show her (or him) that you are thinking of them.
