Who Carries Out Risk Assessment?
A nominated person or persons will be responsible for carrying out a risk assessment of their area of work, but employees should be consulted when this exercise is being carried out. How Are the Hazards Identified? It is essential to identify all hazards associated with each department and this can often be made easier by means of a brainstorming exercise. Where there may be several potential hazards to an activity e.g. changing a light bulb, the assessment may be broken down into components e.g. use of ladders, electrical safety.
