Apple had record Mac sales, in spite of its lackluster—or even nonexistent—system updates. The systems look nice, and they run Mac OS X, and that’s really all that matters. Switching from tried-and-true Intel to AMD for a dubious performance advantage that may not even materialize just doesn’t make sense. It’s not a good gamble: the payoff isn’t there. Mac sales are still important to Apple, but maintaining the hardware and software aesthetic is the priority, not having absolute balls-to-the-wall performance.
