Who can volunteer at the Port Townsend Marine Science Center?
The most exciting aspect of volunteering for us is the wide variety of opportunities available. Some of these are seasonal in nature. For example, collectors are primarily needed in the spring and fall for animal collections and releases. Citizen scientists are needed for projects which may take place just two or three days out of the year or on a weekly basis. Some core tasks are on-going and require a stronger volunteer commitment because of the time and training involved. These include exhibit interpreting and greeting, cleaning and care of the animals, and some citizen science research/monitoring projects.. Behind the scenes, we also need board and committee members, office assistance, fundraising, graphic design, photography, and much more. Call or email Jean Walat, Volunteer Coodrinator jwalat@ptmsc.org to get the most up to date list of volunteer projects.
