Who can teach marketing and entrepreneurship?
A business education licensed teacher can teach a first year or first level marketing course that does not include a marketing prerequisite. For example: a Marketing 1 or a Sports Marketing course can be taught by a business education teacher if the course is the only or first level course that does not include a prerequisite of a previous marketing course. However, if it is a Marketing 2 course or a Sports Marketing course that requires Marketing 1 (or a similar course) for entrance, a Marketing licensed teacher must teach the course. Higher level and/or capstone Marketing courses should and must be taught by a licensed Marketing teacher (or a teacher holding a dual license in Business and Marketing Education). Entrepreneurship concepts are taught in many areas of curriculum throughout Career & Technical Education and in academic coursework. However, a standalone Entrepreneurship class can be taught by either a Business OR Marketing licensed teacher.
