Who can study Hebrew, Biblical and Jewish studies?
Anyone can study Classical Hebrew, Modern Hebrew or Yiddish language. We assume no previous knowledge in any of these languages, so we have Beginners streams in both Classical and Modern Hebrew, as well as Intermediate/Advanced streams if you have studied HSC Hebrew or equivalent. Students are assessed individually to make sure they are placed in the most appropriate class for their level of knowledge and proficiency. You can major in Classical Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, Yiddish, Jewish Civilisation, Thought and Culture, or Biblical Studies; and even pursue Fourth year honours study, subject to approval, in Classical Hebrew, Modern Hebrew, Biblical and Judaic Studies.
