Who can repair dynamic element of Altec 639B?
I have an Altec 639B that I want to get refurbished. It was underwater in 1978. Amazingly, the ribbon still works! The diaphragm of the dynamic element has disintegrated. Just a few shards of blue foil left. I have found people that can refurbish the mic, including the ribbon if needed, but nobody so far can do the dynamic element. Where in the world can I find somebody who can put a new diaphragm and voice coil into the dynamic element? I imagine it’s a lot like re-cone-ing a speaker, just much smaller 🙂 Please help me find somebody that can work magic on an old dynamic mic. It’s killing me that I can’t get this beauty refurbished for want of a dynamic element.
