Who can participate?
Teenager – The Parent Taught Driver Education Program is available to teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17. The course must be completed prior to the student’s eighteenth (18th) birthday to receive credit under this program. Parent/Guardian Instructor . The instructor must have a valid TEXAS driver license for the preceding three years. Active US military personnel and their spouse may participate as instructors if they hold a valid license from their state of permanent residence or last duty station for the preceding three years. The instructor cannot have a conviction (including a probated sentence) of criminally negligent homicide or driving while intoxicated. The instructor’s license may not be suspended, revoked, or forfeited in the past three years for traffic related violations. Furthermore, the instructor may not be disabled due to mental illness. Questions as to mental stability will be forwarded to the Medical Advisory Board for determination.
Because the carbon cycle is of global importance, a goal of this project is to allow participation by the whole international GLOBE community. Activities will be developed and tested locally in the U.S. and then further tested and reviewed by a more widely dispersed group of teachers throughout the GLOBE network. In the end, we hope the activities are interesting and compatible with the science curricula of all schools that wish to participate. • What data will be used? Models require data inputs (e.g. latitude, climate, vegetation type, specific leaf weight, growing degree days/summation), which may or may not be available to each school that participates in GLOBE Carbon Cycle. In circumstances where local measurements aren’t feasible, model input data will be provided for a variety of different global ecosystems based on previously published studies. If students can collect data for their own field site they will be able to compare their own measurements to the data provided, as well
Students are eligible to participate with valid Cal Poly ID. Faculty/Staff are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports if they have purchased a Recreation Center membership. Alumni can participate in Intramural Sports if they have a current Recreation Center membership. Alumni must also show proof of medical insurance to the on-site supervisor. Spouses are eligible to participate in Intramural Sports if they have a current Recreation Center membership.
On principle everybody can participate. You should have at least two years of vocational education or a comparable high school degree (e.g. senior technical college final or secondary school final). These qualifications have to be proved in case of winning a green card, but not for the application. Any person born in one of the following countries is not eligible: However, it is possible to participate, if one parent or the partner was not born in one of the following countries: People’s Republic of China, India, the Philippines, Vietnam, South Korea, Canada, Mexico, Jamaica, El Salvador, Colombia, Haiti,Jamaica, Pakistan, Great Britain without Northern Ireland, and the Dominican Republic.
