Who can participate in the MIAN program?

Answer — The mentoring program is for both novice and seasoned interpreters who are looking to improve their skills. Most interpreters who utilize mentoring are interested in preparing for the QAST, EIPA or NIC performance tests or looking to increase their rank on those tests. If you are a recent ITP/IPP graduate who has a QAST score or RID certification, you are eligible for the mentoring program. On occasion the committee does accept EIPA interpreters. If you live in rural areas, you can ask for a waiver of any of the requirements provided that you are able to prove you have sufficient language development in ASL.
