Who can join the League of Women Voters?

0

Any citizen age 18 and over, male or female*, may join the League. Associate membership is available for younger people or noncitizens, and there are student memberships for IUP students. Joining the League of Women Voters of Indiana County also confers membership in the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania and the League of Women Voters of the United States. Currently there are 61 county residents who are members of LWVIC. Dues are $50 a year, payable to LWVIC. Student memberships are $25. Checks can be mailed to treasurer Sandy Whitson, 403 Elm St., Indiana, PA 15701. Email lwvic@yourinter.net for more information about joining the League. PRINTABLE ON-LINE APPLICATION *Although membership was opened to men in the 1970’s, we keep our original name to honor those women who struggled for 70 years to bring the vote to women. The League was formed in 1920 to help newly enfranchised women become educated about the political process.
