WHO CAN JOIN THE HOUSING REGISTER?

The Council has an “open” housing register. This means that you can apply for housing unless: • You are subject to immigration controls • You are in a class of people that the Government prescribes as ineligible • If you are unsure as to whether or not you qualify for Council housing, please contact one of our Applications Officers on (01268) 882354. • If you do fall within one of these categories, you will not be admitted to the housing register. In addition, you may not be admitted to the housing register if you have been found guilty of unacceptable conduct which you would make you unsuitable to be a Council tenant (e.g. anti-social behaviour).
