Who can do penile implants, and what is the cost?
Urologists would often be able to perform penile implant surgery. A list of urologists in Australia can be found at the Urological Society of Australasia. Because not all urologists offer penile implant surgery, it would be best to contact a urologist in your area to determine if he/she is able to perform this surgery. Alternatively, if you contact the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons they may be able to advise of a surgeon in your area that could perform penile implant surgery. Finally, if you speak to your GP, they may also be able to refer you to an appropriate specialist in your local area. In regard to cost, penile implants can be costly at between $4,000 and $10,000, but you would need to speak with your surgeon about the total cost. This surgery is rarely done in the public system.
