Who can complete a Verbal Prior Authorization (PA)?
A verbal prior authorization request is one that is done over the phone, not in writing. The following people can make a verbal request for coverage; Member, Member’s Power of Attorney, Doctor, Doctor’s office (any trained staff – physician, nurse, physician’s assistant, medical assistant) when acting as an agent of the Physician, Consulting Pharmacists for LTC facility when acting as an agent of the Physician.
