All families that have a youth involved with the court can request a screening. When children are flagged as at risk on the MAYSI-2 screening tool (assessesÂ youth in the court systems for mental health issues – administered by the Juvenile Detention Diversion Coordinator) an explanation of the results is provided to the child and their parent or guardian. Information on service providers and treatment options is provided based on the identified needs of the child.
