Who can become an author?
An author is someone who creates original content. The title author was formerly a special distinction given to people who made a career out of content creation. And that’s still the case today for people who define themselves as authors. If you take this definition literally, however, which is what I intend to do, the name author applies to anyone who creates content (regardless of what such people call themselves). I know of very few organizations (professional publishing firms notwithstanding) that can afford the luxury of all their authors being professionals. Instead, authors are as often as not people with other jobs who happen to know about something and can (more or less) communicate it.
