Who can be buried at the National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces? What is the application process?

0

In March of 2001, the Minister of National Defence announced the creation of a National Military Cemetery of the Canadian Forces to be located in Beechwood Cemetery, a 160-acre park-like setting in northeast Ottawa. All current and former members of the Canadian military who have been honourably discharged, as well as any veterans of the First and Second World Wars or the Korean War, are eligible for burial. All inquiries related to applications for burial in the NMC should be directed to the Director Casualty Support Administration 6, toll-free in Canada at 1 800 883-6094, or local and outside Canada, 613 995-1457 or fax 613 944-7728. You may also visit their Web site. Although National Defence estimates there is sufficient space to accommodate requests for at least a century, eligible people wishing to be interred there should register their names as soon as they can.
