Who can apply?
The California Endowment makes grants to nonprofit organizations, tribal governments, and public agencies that directly benefit the health and well-being of Californians. To apply to The Endowment, applicant organizations or their fiscal sponsor must generally have valid tax exemption status under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and be classified as a public charity and not as a “private foundation” under section 509(a).
Applicants must have completed a Bachelor’s degree at the time of admission, demonstrate academic preparedness (GPA>/= 3.0) including previous course work in college algebra, statistics or advanced math classes AND one semester of college biology each with a grade of “C” or higher. In addition, all applicants must meet admission requirements of the Graduate College before being admitted into a program.
The family bears the primary responsibility for financing a child’s education to the extent of their financial means; however, we invite and encourage any family who finds difficulty in meeting the financial obligations of their child’s education to apply. Part of the mission of the school is to provide an education for all children regardless of the ability to pay. With these scholarships, limited school resources are available and we ask that families exhaust all personal financial support prior to applying.
